Map the footswitch sequence

Read the exact sequence for record, play, overdub, stop, undo and clear. One-switch loopers save space but use double taps or holds; two or more switches can reduce timing pressure.

Try the stop action you will use live. An external switch can be a worthwhile part of the initial footprint rather than a later surprise.

Choose one track or a composition system

A single-track looper suits practice, riff capture and simple layering. Multiple synchronized tracks support arrangement changes but add navigation and state to manage.

Rhythm patterns, count-ins and quantization help practice and structured performance. Decide whether they are essential or an interface layer you will avoid.

Verify storage and synchronization

Check total recording time, number of memories, audio import and export, file format and whether loops survive power loss. USB may mean file transfer, audio interface operation or only updates; the manual should say which.

MIDI clock and commands can synchronize a larger rig, but implementation details vary. Confirm the exact start, stop, tempo and program-change functions you need.
